FAQ - What do anti-tarnish protectors do.
A. Tarnish is the discolouration of silver that occurs naturally over time as the metal reacts with elements in the air to form a new compound on the surface. This resulting layer of grey or black coating causes once bright, shining surfaces to become dull and unsightly.

Anti-tarnish protectors are one of the most important ingredients in Town Talk silver polish products. The unique anti-tarnish ingredient bonds to silver and forms an invisible shield on its surface, protecting it from tarnish-forming substances. This protective layer means that your silver will last much longer before it tarnishes, so by using Town Talk products you will find you need to clean your silver less frequently.

FAQ - My Silver foam appears to have dried out.

A. Simply add a few drops of water to soften it again.

FAQ - Are the 'Handmade to Order' and 'Pre-Order' delivery estimates accurate?

A.Yes, the estimates are based on dates given to us by our factories as to when the products will reach us. However they may occasionally be subject to delays and changes that are out of our control and therefore we can only give them as an estimated delivery date. Once you have placed your order with us we will endeavour to keep you updated on your delivery date and notify you of any changes.

FAQ. What is sterling/solid silver.
A.
Silver that is at least 92.5 percent pure with 7.5 parts of another metal, usually copper, to make the piece harder. The word "Sterling" is the best known and most respected marking in use today. Pure silver alone is too soft for everyday use. Copper is the metal commonly used to give "Sterling" it’s added stiffness and wearing qualities. Sterling is often referred to as solid silver.

FAQ – How to clean Tarnished Silver?
A.
Chemicals in the air can and will cause silverware to tarnish. In addition, silver is also likely to tarnish faster in highly humid environments than in dryer climates. When sulphur comes into contact with silver, silver sulphide is formed on the surface. This is usually first noticed when silver takes on a yellowish hue, which if left untreated will turn brown and in severe cases of oxidisation, the metal can bear dark brown or blue or black patches.
To remove the tarnish is in effect to change the silver sulphide back to silver, so that the former shine of the cutlery can be restored. Cleaning with a special-purpose silver cloth can restore the shine of the cutlery that is lightly tarnished. Use the cloth to wipe and polish the piece of silver, firmly but without excessive rubbing, and its original shine can be recovered.
